Welcome to the online home of Rob Fearon, disabled videogame maker, games journalist, crap film watcher, gobshite and doodler. Rob’s been around games a very, very long time now and Punching Robots Club is their personal website featuring whatever nonsense takes their fancy and collects together posts from their blogs, artwork, fave tunes and whatever else springs to mind..

  • Tempest 2000, drawn by Rob

A comic strip based on Tempest 2000.

The first panel sees a claw shaped spacecraft zoom away from a structure in space.

With a roar — and with only seconds to spare —

The bottom panels show a demon emerging from a green goo inside one of the structures.

The claw zooms to safety.

The demon yells, “Oi! Come back!”

Feeling a bit rough again the past few days and this started out as redrawing an idea I had for a Geometry Wars picture whilst watching a bunch of VHS special ninja films. Part of the way through and I ended up shifting gears into a Tempest 2000 tribute.

Really I just fancied sketching the demon so it was any excuse.

This is the second attempt at it, anyway! The first had all the same elements (and I used it as the sketch layer here) but was much rougher (and shakier because tremors are fun sometimes) round the edges.

I still don’t really enjoy drawing comics but the process itself is getting easier and more manageable.
